The New Administrative Capital is the new future capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a new Egyptian city of the fourth generation located in the Cairo Governorate. established by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s, and was announced during the Support and Development of the Egyptian Economy conference held in Sharm El-Sheikh from 13 to 15 March 2015. The UAE signed a contract to build it during the conference. The total area of the city is approximately 170,000 acres (688 km²), larger than Singapore and more than four times larger than Washington D.C. It is about 60 km east of Cairo and about 65 km west of Suez and is planned to accommodate nearly 6.5 million people when fully completed.
The administrative capital was established to ease the congestion in Cairo and to become the new capital and seat of government for Egypt by June 2022. The headquarters of the presidency, the government, the parliament, the ministries, the authorities, and other government agencies, as well as embassies and consulates of foreign countries, will be relocated to the new capital. It will also be the financial center of Egypt, with a financial and business district that will house regional offices and headquarters of major Egyptian and global companies and banks. The city is divided into 20 districts and different usage areas. It will also include the strategic state command headquarters, the city of arts and culture, the international Olympic games city of Egypt, the city of knowledge, and the Green River, which will be over 35 km long, making it six times larger than Central Park in New York.
